My journey in the floral industry began in August 2010 when I joined FloraLaura. Over the course of seven years, I had the incredible opportunity to learn and grow under the mentorship of Laura Straight. Laura graciously took me under her wing and imparted her extensive knowledge across all aspects of the industry. As time progressed, I evolved into the role of the lead floral designer, a position I held for my final three years at FloraLaura.
In March 2018, I embarked on a new chapter by acquiring FloraLaura and subsequently transforming it into Shady Vines Floral Co.

A little over a year later, in July 2019, I made the decision to transition from a traditional storefront to a closed studio in Burien. This change was driven by my desire to focus more on my favorite facet of the floral industry: weddings and events, all while continuing to offer everyday arrangement deliveries.

In the spring of 2023, I faced a challenging period when I experienced severe antidepressant withdrawals. This left me in a state where I was unable to function and filled with a profound sense of shame. I share this with you in the hopes that if you have faced or are facing a similar experience, please know that you are not alone, this is not your fault, and it does get better. Following stabilization and therapy, I recognized the need for another adjustment in my career path. Consequently, I am now dedicating my full attention to weddings and events, a field that truly ignites my passion.

I consider myself exceedingly fortunate to have been presented with the remarkable opportunities that have shaped my career. I am also deeply honored and privileged to be part of the small but significant percentage of Latinas contributing to the floral industry.

Meet Tuco, our beloved resident shop dog. His journey with us began in January 2019 when he was discovered as a puppy amidst blackberry bushes just before a storm. Tuco's remarkable spirit led him to graduate from puppy Kindergarten, an achievement made even more remarkable by the fact that we later discovered he is deaf. Through patient dedication and the adoption of basic sign language, Tuco has not only overcome his unique challenge but has also become an exemplary member of our team. One of his remarkable qualities is his innate ability to never attempt to ingest anything harmful to dogs, showcasing his impeccable judgment and safety awareness.
